Sumac is that deep red, sour spice made from dried then ground sumac berries. Common in Middle Eastern cooking, it adds a bright, citrusy note to everything from my favorite Creamy Tahini Hummus, Hummus bowls with Spiced Ground Beef or as a final sprinkle over Halal Cart-Style Chicken and Rice.
